here begin my catch-up posts from the past week. last thursday morning, i moved my things into my new condo. it took exactly two trips, which made me very happy, but my knee, not so happy. between the stairs at ron and becky's and the stairs at the condo, i carried lots of stuff up lots of steps. it is rather odd to see how little i actually have here with me in CO. it isn't anywhere near as big as the IL house, but our new condo looks huge without any furniture in it. at the moment all i have is the TV, some office stuff, a few things for the kitchen and an air mattress for sleeping. sleeping on the floor is making me really appreciate my stuff. even with an air mattress, it's not too terribly comfortable.
right after i carried my last box up the stairs, mom and ron pulled up in the parking lot. it was really great to see them. i love living here and i love everything about CO, but every once in a while it is nice to see your momma. i had a blast showing them around boulder and hanging out in the area. we spent thursday afternoon wandering around on pearl street and had a fabulous lunch at boulder cafe. it was much harder to go to class knowing that they were playing in town.
on friday we got up early and set out on our first hike of their trip. i took them up to sugarloaf mountain just outside of boulder. i had never been, but heard that it was a beautiful hike and easy enough that they wouldn't get too tired or have altitude troubles. after several attempts to find the trail head and walking in the wrong directions a couple of times, we found the trail and it was so beautiful. from the top you can see east over boulder and west out into the mountains. the views are amazing and it was almost overwhelming to see how far the mountains go in all directions.
here are some pictures that we took from the top.
it was so much fun. we had a great time, even if we were worn out for the rest of the day. CO is amazing and I love my momma!
